Defining relative clauses

  • Definining relative clauses give neccessary information about the relative word
  • They are introduced by Who (for persons) /Which (for things) /That (persons and things
  • They have no commas around
  • The relative pronoum can be omitted when it is not subject

Examples:

  • The woman who/that lives by me is English
  • The woman who/ that I live with is my mother
  • The woman I live with is my mother
  • Cars which/that are double parked will be fined
